About Our Name Labels

Our name labels are made with an advanced synthetic material, which is extremely soft and pliable. This means our name labels can be used on flat and curved surfaces (including flexible wash-care labels) and that they are gentle against skin when they are used as clothing labels.

Our name labels are made with a specially developed adhesive (unique to our name tags) designed to create a bond that will hold your labels firmly and securely in place under all sorts of conditions. This strong and resilient adhesive can withstand both the rough and tumble of day to day life and repeat trips through the washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, microwave, or sink.

Stikins ® name labels have been independently tested using the BS EN ISO6330 wash test procedure for 60 washes at 40 degrees but, more importantly, they’ve also been thoroughly tested by thousands of families across the country, who have bought and used our name labels, day after day, over and over again, for fourteen years!

When using Stikins ® labels as clothing labels, school uniform labels, or name labels on fabric items, you must apply your stick on labels to the wash-care label only. There are thousands of different material blends used to make clothing and - while our name labels will work on SOME of these blends - we cannot test them all and so cannot guarantee that your labels will work if applied directly onto clothing and fabric items. Wash-care labels, however, are made with a particular kind of material and our labels were applied onto wash-care labels during independent testing. This means that we can guarantee that yoour labels will work as clothing labels when applied onto the wash-care label (i.e. the label that shows the washing instructions).

Items should be clean and dry before you apply your labels and you should wait 24 hours before washing your items to allow the adhesive to completely set. While our products have been thoroughly tested to ensure they will withstand a normal cycle of washing and drying, you should always follow the recommended guidelines supplied with your cleaning products. When ironing labelled items, avoid direct contact between your iron and your name labels as the heat will cause your labels will melt.

Stikins ® name labels are personalised using a bold, black font to ensure your text really stands out against the white background.

We cannot print images, emoji, or icons nor can we print characters from any alphabet other than the English alphabet.

The font size is determined by how many characters you request. Our system automatically chooses the largest font that will allow your text to fit on your labels ( which are 30mm wide by 15mm high). To get the best possible font size, you should keep things short and sweet.

You can request up to 18 characters per line. When you order online, you can use our print preview screen to get an idea of the font size you will receive.

Most customers request a first name (line 1) and surname (line 2) but you can request whatever you like. Common requests include contact information (phone number), medical and allergy information, school information (school or class name), or simple messages (such as “This belongs to” or “Please return to”). If you do include additional information, we recommend entering one piece of information on line 1 (e.g. a name) and one piece of information on line 2 (e.g. a phone number).

If you do need to include more detailed information on your name labels, we may be able to accomodate your personalisation as we can manually print text across three lines. However, you will need to request this by phone.

In summer, your name labels may be exposed to sun creams and lotions, which contain enhanced ingredients that can cause some inks to disintegrate. Stikins ® name tags are printed with a special ink that is resistant to children’s alcohol-free sun creams and lotions. This allows the print on your personalised name labels will remain firmly in place, clear and legible, all year round.

We believe that name labels should be invisible until you need them. For this reason, we’ve chosen a size for our name labels (30mm wide by 15mm high) that fits neatly and unobtrusively onto the wash-care label of clothing and onto personal items of all shapes and sizes.

You can order Stikins ® name labels online or by phone. Our name tags are available in five pack sizes: 30, 60, 90, 120, or 240 name labels. We make and despatch name labels every day, Monday to Friday, up to 3pm. This means that all orders placed before 3pm on these days will be despatched same day. Orders placed after 3pm, over the weekend, on Bank Holidays, or over the holidays (Easter & Christmas) will be despatched on the next working day.

Our prices are inclusive of VAT and standard delivery. We use Royal Mail's First Class service for standard delivery. While most items are delivered on the next day, this is not a guaranteed next day service and it can take up to seven working days for your order to arrive.

Your order will include a VAT receipt and an information leaflet, along with your name labels. We pack each set of name labels in its own plastic bag, which provides protection during storage and is pre-printed with a copy of our instructions for use so you always have them to hand.
