Keep Your Halloween Haul Safe With Our Scarily Sticky Name Labels

It’s Halloween Eve! We hope you have a horrifically good time celebrating All Hallow’s Eve tomorrow and get plenty of treats! Here are a few tricks from us to help you get the most out of your Stikins ® labels - stick on name labels that are so sticky, it’s scary!

Terrifyingly Good Tricks To Get The Most Out Of Your Screamingly Good Name Labels!

Whether you’re labelling up your family’s Halloween haul to keep it safe and sound or doing something far more ordinary like just labelling up the kids’ school uniform and kit, here are our top tricks to make sure your name labels work a treat!

Follow The Instructions For Use – They’re Frighteningly Good

We have spent YEARS working on our instructions for use. They have been designed to make the process of applying your name labels as simple as possible. More importantly, they also help you avoid common problems that people encounter when using stick on name labels. This way you can ensure that your labels will always simply stick on and stay on.

It is especially important to follow our recommendations when applying labels onto fabric items or into shoes:

Fabric Items: apply your name labels onto the wash-care label – not directly onto the fabric of the clothing / item.

Shoes: apply your name labels onto the side wall or beneath the tongue of each shoe. Do not apply them onto the floor directly below the heel, where the print will be worn away.

Make Sure Fabric Items Are Creepily Clean & Disturbingly Dry Before Labelling

If you are labelling fabric items (including school uniform, clothing, bedding, towels, and soft toys), you need to make sure that they are clean and dry before applying your name labels. Traces of dust, dirt, or water can interfere with the adhesive and prevent your labels from bonding properly with your items.

We also recommend washing brand new items of clothing before you apply your name labels; this will remove any traces of excess dye or chemicals used to preserve clothing during storage, which can also affect the adhesive bond.

Avoid The Nightmare Of Running Short & Order Spares

We often get asked how many name labels people should order. Our advice is to order more than you think you need – just in case. Many parents underestimate just how much stuff they’ll want to label and run out. Plus, ordering a few extras means that you’ll always have some on hand for last minute on-the-way-out-of-the-door labelling emergencies!

Store Your Name Labels In A Spookily Suitable Environment

If you order extra labels, you need to store them in a suitable environment to protect the adhesive. We recommend that you store your name labels in their original plastic wallet. They should be placed in a dry location, out of direct sunlight, and preferably at a consistent room temperature. Exposing stick on name labels to heat sources can sometimes cause a reaction in the adhesive, reducing its efficiency when you come to use your labels later on.

Scaring (Or Sharing) Is Caring

If you need name labels for the whole family, you can get creative with your personalisation and create a pack that can be shared. For example, popular options include requesting:

  • A surname only (“Surname” / “Surname Family” / “Family Surname” / “Surname Girls” / “Surname Boys” / “Surname Twins” etc).
  • An initial and surname (although this is only suitable if your family members share an initial and surname!).
  • A blank line and a surname so you can write in the name you need using a suitable laundry pen.
  • Two names and cutting the labels up to create individual name labels
(e.g. enter "Name/Initial 1 Surname Name/Initial 2” on one line or enter "Name 1" on line 1 and "Name 2" on line 2).
  • Two (or more) names and simply sharing (e.g. “Name 1 & Name 2” on line 1 and “Surname” on line 2).
