The History of Stikins ® Name Labels
Stikins ® name labels are sold by Label Planet, a family owned business established in 2003 and based in Nantwich, Cheshire.
In 2003, we had four children at school and found that the name labels we could get for them were not exactly what we wanted. Existing products tended to be expensive, time consuming, and weren’t as long-lasting or hard-wearing as we would have liked.
We were also looking to start a business of our own. I had spent more than 20 years working for Markem Systems and Zebra Technologies, solving labelling problems for companies and supplying labels and labelling equipment.
So, we decided to create our own name labels. Even with the contacts I had in label material manufacturers, it took six months of extensive research and testing to develop the original version of Stikins ® labels.
Named for their ability to simply “stick in and stay in”, Stikins ® name labels launched in 2004.
Since then we have introduced improved versions of our name labels and other name labelling products. We now supply name labels to thousands of families across the country and continue to develop and improve our services and products year after year.

The Development Of A Modern Name Labelling Solution
Stick on name labels are quick and easy to apply, so busy families can label belongings safely and securely in minutes and then get on with the more important things in life.
We want our name labels to live up to their promise to simply stick on and stay on. However, as materials, washing machines, and cleaning products get more advanced, it gets harder to make sure stick on name labels won’t wash away. This is why we continue to research and develop new materials and manufacturing methods – so our name labels will always be the best that they can be.
Each year, we gather customer feedback and review our existing products. We research new materials and technologies and test new samples to ensure they live up to the Stikins ® labels brand.
Samples are independently tested in laboratory conditions using an internationally recognised standard – the BS EN ISO6330 wash test procedure for 60 washes at 40 degrees. Once we’re happy with a new version, we introduce it to our toughest critics – our customers.
Using this cycle of research and development, we’ve introduced a variety of new and improved stick on name label products:
- 2010: “New” Stikins ® Name Labels
These multipurpose name labels replaced our “original” name labels (a combination of “H”-shaped clothing labels, shoes labels, micro labels, and silver labels). - 2013: Sun Cream Resistant Stikins ® Labels
Some market-leading children’s sun cream products contain aggressive ingredients that damage personalised name labels so we sourced a brand new printing ribbon. - 2015: Silver Name Labels
A colourful alternative; we introduced these silver stick on labels for use on personal items. - 2017: Stikins Adhesive & Stikins ® Name Label Kit
After months of development, we introduced a new adhesive unique to Stikins ® Labels. We also created a Name Label Kit with blank labels and a pen.
